Investing in Muskegon’s Future

Each kindergartener at Three Oaks Public School Academy was given $50.00 to start their own savings account through KickStart to Career Muskegon. The program is designed to give students an early boost toward a great career.

“We are excited about this opportunity for our kindergarteners. It is great to partner with our community for the success of our students,” Monecia Vasbinder, principal of Three Oaks Public School Academy, commented.

KickStart believes that every penny counts toward building dreams and that Three Oaks students will already have a boost by having a savings account. It will help foster hope and create an opportunity for our students’ future. Along the way, these kindergarteners will have a chance to earn incentive deposits, learn about savings and financial education, and families will be encouraged to make deposits of their own.

“Understanding money and the importance of saving is a life-skill and our goal is to have students leave Three Oaks with a better understanding of the world and how to live in it. This program offers that opportunity for our students,” Vasbinder concluded.

The kindergartner’s opened their savings accounts at Service 1 Federal Credit Union while the $50.00 start-up money was given through The Community Foundation for Muskegon County.
