Skill City is our after school tutoring program that is offered at Three Oaks Public School Academy. Skill City runs in four-week sessions. Students are given a snack and then go to their classrooms for instruction from 3:30-4:30 PM. Teachers work with groups of no more than eight students in a group. At the end of the first two weeks of school, and each subsequent grading period, any student who is not making satisfactory progress in a core subject—Reading/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, or Social Studies—will be required to attend Skill City for academic support.
For grades K and 1, the focus is on developing the skills they need to be successful in their grades- recognizing numbers, letters, letter sounds, sight words, math facts, etc. Grades 2-5 focus on Scantron goals. A teacher must recommend K and 1 Skill City students to the group while grades 2-5 have to score a certain number in Scantron. Each student's progress will be reviewed weekly to determine if academic support is still necessary. Transportation home is provided.
